Behind the Scenes with Abby Rutter

Here is a look at my home work station, this is an area where I do mostly brain storming, writing, reflection and zoom meetings. I additionally have an easel in this room where I sit and paint. I find painting has been a process I have been drawn to lately in accompaniment with the work I have been making for this exhibition. It was only upon reflection that I realised that the processes I have explore in 'Rummage' feel like they have intersections with a painting/sculptural process, which is perhaps why I enjoyed it so much.
A large part of my process often includes reflection on objects that feel charged with memories or emotional responses. This was something I drew on for 'Rummage', translating to a digital form. the first step was selecting objects within my home environments that I wished to explore. I used a phone application called Qlone to scan the shapes and colours of the object, creating one unified image representing the object. The process involved tracing the object in detail with the camera lens on my phone.

I put the images through photoshop, creating png files that could be placed within the exhibition.
